Rooted in the forms of historical monastic flagons and court decanters, The Scarlet Armorial presents an arresting study in materiality, aged patina, and formal symmetry. The vessel is crafted with an elongated, tapering neck that descends into an articulated, rolled-collar shoulder and a solid cylindrical body, completely clad in molded hide. Its leather exterior displays a rich, uneven honey-amber to ochre surface, marked by organic mottling and soft wear accrued over time. Commanding the central cylindrical face is a vividly preserved heraldic crest in raised relief, rendered in a bold, cinnabar-red polychrome lacquer. The emblem showcases an intricate escutcheon surmounted by a regal crown, supported by twin rampant beasts and anchored by an arched motto banner. Just above the crest, a delicate blind-tooled palmette motif accents the base of the neck, while a deep green glass or lacquered ring cinches the lip beneath a turned spherical wooden stopper. The dialogue between the luminous red seal and the weathered warmth of the leather elevates this vessel into a striking, historicist decorative object.
