Slumped Wine Bottle - cheese tray or a decorative plaque.

A curious artist collected empty wine bottles from New York City clubs & restaurants which hosted lavish Wall Street parties. These empty bottles are "slumped' and transformed into classy cheese trays or decorative art  plaques. The wine bottle label and vintage is a great conversation piece.

Further Info

"Original Jean Velut Champagne Vintage Wine Cheese Tray" transforms a discarded symbol of celebration into functional art through this cleverly repurposed champagne bottle. The dark green glass has been artfully flattened while preserving the distinctive silhouette of the original vessel, complete with its elegant neck and wire cage cap. Both the neck label and main Jean Velut Brut Champagne label remain intact, their gold and cream coloration creating striking contrast against the bottle's deep emerald glass, while subtle bluish highlights along the edges reveal the material's transformed character.

About Artwork: Original Jean Velut Champagne Vintage Wine Cheese Tray

This 16-inch long glass tray represents the intersection of sustainability and artistry through the glass slumping technique. Created by Bill Morin, a retired New Jersey car salesman who collected empty bottles from Wall Street celebrations at Columbus Circle restaurants, the piece gives new life to luxury waste through careful heating and manipulation. The flattening process preserves the bottle's identifying elements while transforming its function—what once contained celebratory champagne now serves as a distinctive serving platter or decorative accent. The piece carries multiple narratives: the story of the champagne's origin in Montgueux, France; the Wall Street revelry that emptied it; and the artisan's patient transformation of discarded luxury into enduring utility. When displayed in contemporary spaces, this conversation-starting piece brings both environmental consciousness and whimsical repurposing to entertaining, serving as both functional tray and artistic commentary on consumption and rebirth.
