Bernard Zalon

Bernard Zalon, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1951, is a dedicated printmaker who has focused exclusively on etching since 1981. With a background in architecture, Zalon made a significant career shift when he began studying printmaking at the Brooklyn Museum Art School in 1974, later deepening his expertise in etching at the Art Students League. His technical process involves working with copper plates, using acid to create images that are individually inked and printed. Despite his preference against artist statements, believing artwork ""should speak for itself,"" Zalon's inspiration comes from both conceptual ideas and direct observation. His artistic journey included studies at the Institut Des Arts D'Ixelles in Brussels, and he continues to work at the Art Students League in New York City, where he has been a full-time artist since 1975.
