Anita Gaasbeek-Ruigrok, born in 1964, is a Dutch visual artist and designer known for capturing movement and human expression. Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, she specialized in graphic and typographic design while pursuing her passion for drawing and painting. Since 2008, Gaasbeek has worked from her studio in Gouda, focusing on her artistic career after years in advertising.
Gaasbeek's work often features dynamic figure studies of dancers and musicians, created during live performances and rehearsals. Her process involves broad brushstrokes on large sheets of paper, later developed using acrylic and mixed techniques on linen and panel. Beyond movement studies, her creative range includes outdoor sketching, painting during travels, and incorporating text and graphic elements into her work, reflecting her background in graphic design.
